Faithful

IMAG2763When two people are married, each goes into the marriage with their faults, failures, successes, hopes and dreams. They also go into the marriage with an expectancy that each will be faithful to the other. With all that expectancy, hopes are often dashed by the reality of those who waver from their allegiance; their promise to be true…their promise to be faithful.

There is One, however, to Whom we owe our allegiance, our devotion, our love; His name is Jesus. He is faithful to us; why are we not faithful to Him?

In a marriage, a woman may see a man who is much more attractive to the eye, than her husband, even fatter in his wallet. This outsider, contender even, may wear nicer clothes and drive a fancy car..causing her to have a wavering eye. Such things may cause her to be unfaithful to her husband. Just the same, a man may see a woman to whom he is quite attracted, forgetting the beautiful wife he has at home; forgetting the committment he made to her, only a short time ago! If we look at society today, especially with all the media hype surrounding celebrities and the like, we may desire that glamour or simply the affections of another, if we feel as though we’re not getting what we want. We then become unfaithful.

In our wants and wishes, it’s often times easy to be unfaithful, in many ways. It is in this same way that we are unfaithful to God. We may feel as though He is not giving us what we want, so we turn away from Him. We turn to the ways of the world; we turn to satan. We become unfaithful. But let us be reminded and comforted in what the apostle Paul wrote in Hebrews 10:23, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” God is faithful to His people, let us also choose to be faithful to Him. Let us live a life that is pleasing to Him..honoring Him in all that we do; being faithful to Him.
